‘Resident Evil 7’ Release Date: Game's New Spinoff and HD Remakes Are in the Works, Capcom Says

A new report has surfaced on Wednesday, saying that game developer Capcom is planning to develop a new spinoff of "Resident Evil." It was said that the game will also have multiple HD remakes, but the publisher claims that it's too early to disclose specific details, a report from Gamespot said.

Regarding the reports, Masachika Kawata, veteran producer of the game, has reportedly told avid fans and players to "stay tuned." Kawata's remark was from a recent interview conducted by the Japanese magazine, Dengeki PlayStation. It was said that he was asked to share any developments or updates about "Resident Evil," according to iDigital Times.

"We're currently not at a state to talk about it... but please stay tuned," he said.

When asked if "Resident Evil" is indeed losing its "horror touch," he said, "Since there's been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I'm thinking about it and also preparing for it."

Meanwhile, Capcom has confirmed earlier this week that "Resident Evil 2" will have a full remake. "We're pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development," a Capcom representative said in a Videogamer interview.

"As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don't have any additional information or assets to share at this time. However, for now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we've received on this title. We're looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for."

According to the report, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi will produce the remake of the classic video game. It was said that Hirabayashi is also the producer of "Resident Evil HD Remake."

"Resident Evil 2" was produced by "Resident Evil" creator Shinji Mikami and was directed by Hideki Kamiya.
