New York Real Estate Featured in Hit TV Drama Series ‘The Affair’

Season 2 premiere episode of "The Affair' highlights the show's use of New York real estate.

"The Affair" pilot episode for its second season highlighted a prominent New York structure designed by famous architect Richard Meier. According to Salon.com, the first scenes for the premiere showed the 15-story glass building on Prospect Park in Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn which stands out among the numerous structures made from brick and stone.

One of the show's characters, Noah, loves to go for a swim and many of his scenes were filmed in a swimming pool which the building is close to; it stands beside the Eastern Athletics where there is one. The episode's opening shots show Noah swimming in a pool which is not often seen in the New York urban landscape.

In the same post by Salon.com, "The Affair" focuses on the stark differences between Helen who owns real estate in upscale New York while Alison take her bike to work for a catering service in Montauk. It is also mentioned that property is a big concern for Alison and husband Cole. They do not have much in terms of money and they are on the brink of bankruptcy which is among the many reasons why their marriage is collapsing. In the second season opener of the show, it is revealed that Noah and Alison are renting a small apartment in Cold Spring area near the Hudson Valley which has been the center of talks about renewal for many years.

Meanwhile, in a report by Curbed, Meier's glass masterpiece is not only controversial because of its design but it was reported that residents of the said building are up in arms over the construction quality of the structure. Unit owners sued developers and sponsors for construction defects. It was reported that tenants wanted $200 million in damages.
