'Avatar 2' Updates: Fake Jon Landau Twitter Account Suspended, Michelle Rodriguez Won't Be In the Sequel

Last week when an "original" artwork of a Na'Vi character alleged to have been released by Jon Landau himself surfaced from somewhere, fans were thrilled especially with the news that an "Avatar 2" is sure to come in 2017. Unfortunately, it turns out, the said artwork is fake.

The artwork went viral on the Internet, according to IBT, and fans of the sci-fi movie immediately thought that it had something to do with the "Avatar 2" which is said to have been under production since 2014. Along with the said artwork that was posted on Twitter and captioned "Avatar 2" is the claim that producer Jon Landau has given fans a teaser of the said character.

According to Deadline, the Jon Landau Twitter account that posted the artwork is fake. Moreover it was reported that the account was so fake it had referred to the producer as "he" in most of its tweets, instead of "I." It was also reported that the artwork was in fact taken from the first Avatar movie which was released in 2009. The fake Twitter account has been suspended now.

On the other hand, there are those who have been circulating rumors that Michelle Rodriguez will be starring in the sequel. In addition, it was said that the "Fast and Furious" actress will reprise her role as Trudy Chacon from the first Avatar, according to IBT. Unfortunately, Rodriguez herself has confirmed that she will not be appearing in the sequel, telling NY Post, "They're bringing back a lot of other characters. I know Sigourney Weaver's coming back and the guy who played the bad guy, Stephen Lang, is coming back. But yeah, I'm not gonna be in it."

Surely more and more rumors will surface from here and there but as of now, two things are clear. The artwork was fake and Michelle Rodriguez won't be in the sequel.
