1. Bring the Image of Your Rug Handy
Practicality-wise, it is not ideal to bring your rug with you while you're shopping. So a snap of your rug may help you know the pieces you're looking via the image.
Maheffy shared, "Snap some pictures of the rug in really great lighting. That way you'll have a solid visual reference on you at all times when shopping for other elements in the room."
2. Don't go overboard in Designing your Space
As Mehaffey said, "Go ahead and build your room around a rug, and select some items that coordinate with it. But remember that you may grow tired of that rug eventually."
Don't go extreme on your interior design that would go around the rug as your interest may eventually fade soon.
3. Round And Oval for Easy Styling
Round and Oval rugs as advised by Mehaffey is much easier to work on with especially in arranging your sofa, chairs.
4. Let it Blend
Barnett on the other hand advises to let furnitures sit in the rug itself as this makes a blended look.
5. Room Shape equals Rug Shape
Mehaffey suggests that if you want to place or buy a rug into a room and is having difficulty what shape is best. Try basing it with the shape of the room, he suggests "square room= square rug" and "round room= round rug."
"Often, people get confused by round or oval shaped rooms, but following the architecture with a rug shape is exciting," Mehaffey added.
