'Modern Family' Season 7 Premiere Recap, Spoilers, Cast: Andy and Haley's Relationship

The "Modern Family" Season 7 Premiere entitled "Summer Lovin" was about the romance between Andy and Haley, where Phil reached out to Haley and informed her that both she and Andy share the same feelings for each other. To recall, the previous season's finale "American Skyper," featured how Phil (Ty Burrell) told Haley (Sarah Hyland) about Andy's (Guest Star Adam DeVine) feelings for her.

In the premiere, Andy proposed to Beth before Haley could stop him from doing it, since she was still being questioned by Claire (Julie Bowen). Haley was depressed at the beginning of summer because of what happened while Alex and Sanjay were preparing for college. In another scene, Andy was clearing out some of his paperwork with Phil so he can take a break to plan his wedding when he overheard Claire and Phil talking about how Andy could've been a great boyfriend for Haley. Haley approached Andy about his feelings for her and ended up with an argument, departing angry at each other, ABC reported.

Modern Family co-creator Christopher Lloyd revealed that the season doesn't have a theme but like what fans wanted, Andy and Haley will be taking it slowly about their relationship because they seem to be good for each other and they make each other laugh, according to Yahoo TV.

"So that’s what we’re looking for in this relationship, that they’re two people who the audience kind of sees would be good for each other sooner than each of those people actually sees it, because the other is not what either one of them has been looking for in life. You know, Haley’s sort of been going for more superficial guys, and I think Andy’s been going for sort of more law-and-order, kind of mother types, and these are not their typical types, which makes it fun to contemplate what it would be like for them to be together," Lloyd said.

It was also revealed that Jay (Ed O'Neill) and Gloria’s (Sofia Vergara) son Joe will be played by Jeremy Maguire and would be slightly older since he would be like 3 1/2 years old this season and will go to pre-school, Christian Post reported.

Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter) will be going to college on Seasons 7's episode 2, entitled, “The Day Alex Left for College.” It was revealed by the International Business Times that the straight-A student will “give her parents false information about her move-in day.” Winter will continue to play her role of Alex in the entire season while she is earning her college degree.

As for Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson), they won't have any babies for this season and they will struggle financially since Cam lost his job on the previous season. Meanwhile, Phil will feel the effects of the family pulling away since Haley is occupied, Alex will go to college, Claire is busy with professional life and Luke deals with a "criminal streak."
