Apple Launches First iOS App in Google Play App Store: Android Fans Go Berserk with Poor Reviews

Apple released an app called "Move to iOS" in Google Play and loyal Android fans ran wild with one-star ratings.

Apple created an app called "Move to iOS" which has a simple objective--help users who want to switch from Android to iOS make the transition faster and smoother. According to Business Insider, the app was designed without too much fanfare by Apple engineers with the aim of making Android users transfer contacts, messages, photos, videos, emails, and pretty much all the files they have to iOS seamlessly. It is the first Apple product to be released in Google Play and Android users did not take the news too well and decided to vent using app reviews. It was however noted that many of the reviews came from people who did not actually download the app.

From a report by Forbes, the move by Apple was timed to coincide with the recent launch of the new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus which they hope would entice long-time Android users to switch. How "Move to iOS" works is also outlined; instead of using the cloud, the iPhone will set up a network via Wi-Fi and connect the Android phone via the app. It will now transfer all the files and convert them to match with the iOS ecosystem.

As expected and unsurprisingly, reviews of the app were less than stellar especially coming from hordes of Android fans who feel "the enemy" has violated their sacred grounds. One review reads, "This is beyond low for apple. Google develops apps for the iOS platform to help people work more efficiently and be more productive. This is the first app that apple releases for android and it's trying to convert Android people to iOS? That's just wrong, why don't Apple just focus on the user experience rather than competing?"
