‘Ace Attorney’ Game Franchise Gets TV Anime in 2016; Video Game 6 Arc Shows New Setting, Characters, & Fantastical Twist

In the recent Tokyo Game Show 2015, CAPCOM has announced that its Ace Attorney Game Franchise will now have a TV Anime series. The anime series will hit the small screen in April 2016. In addition to the new TV anime series, the company also reveals that the video game's 6 arc will have a new setting and characters.

According to Anime News Network, Gyakuten Saiban aka Ace Attorney will have an anime adaptation that will soon premier. But the new show of this courtroom battle will only be available in Japan. However, details of the new anime show is still kept under wraps.

It is a common knowledge that CAPCOM first launched the "Ace Attorney" game franchise for Game Boy Advance in 2001 for its Japan market, which was then later on made playable with the Nintendo DS. It has been released outside Japan for its market in the West in 2005. The story arc of the game is mostly about Phoenix Wright who is a criminal defense lawyer. Players of this video game will assume the character of Phoenix Wright who "investigates and defends his clients at trial."

In a separate article of Anime News Network, it says that Gyakuten Saiban 6 or Ace Attorney 6 will have a new setting and new characters. Apart from announcing this info on its official twitter account, it has also been shown in the trailer that was released at the TGS 2015. The video preview reveals that the 6 arc is "set set in a country called the Kurain Kingdom, a "country of mystery and faith." The game contains a "Courtroom of Resignation" where defendants are only told to give up, as the Kurain code of law decrees that the court needs no lawyers." It also add a new character named Bokuto, who is an apprentice priest and is "accused of murdering a man and stealing an old artifact. Phoenix, being the good guy he is, steps into Kulain's court system to defend Bokuto." Gamespot says that Phoenix would not be facing the usual silly judge but rather he would be facing a different prosecutor who taunted the "Ace Attorney." Aside from these characters, a fantastical twist has also been added. This is the "spirit vision, in which a medium visually conjures the final moments of the dead." People of Kulain Kingdom believe in this form of solving a case, and "convict the murderers". Other characters are the spirit medium and Leifa, the princess of Kulain.
