'Orange Is The New Black' Season 4 Spoilers & Release Date: Lea DeLaria Shares How Netflix Series Changed Her Life

"Orange is the New Black" (OITNB) star Lea DeLaria recently talked about her stint on the Netflix series and her life in London.

In an interview with Belleville News-Democrat, DeLaria, who plays the role of Carrie "Big Boo" Black, said that she never expected to appear in a television show.

"I never had a day job. I enjoyed my climb to the middle. I enjoyed my life then. Nowhere in my wildest dreams did I think I would become a TV star, a household name, at this stage in my life," she said.

The 57-year-old funnywoman and stage actress first joined "Orange is the New Black" in 2013. On the show, DeLaria plays the role of an openly gay individual.

"The biggest difference in my life now is if I walk out of my apartment, I get asked by a thousand people to get their picture taken with me. Young girls, guys, straight, gay, whatever. Before, people would spit in my face and call me a dyke," she said.

Meanwhile, the actress also revealed how the series has changed her life for the better. "It's completely changed my life. 'OITNB' has made an impact on every gay person's life, I think. It's changed hearts and minds. It's amazing," she said.

"Orange is the New Black" Season 4 will introduce a slew of new characters in the upcoming installment. However, it was recently confirmed that reality TV star and former Olympic gold medallist Caitlyn Jenner will not become Laverne Cox's newest love interest.

Although the two women have already met in person, Jenner and Cox will not work together on the show. In fact, Jenner will not even guest star in the series, according to Christian Today.

"Orange is the New Black" Season 4 will premiere on Netflix in June 2016.
