There are speculations coming out that Ian Somerhalder is thinking of quitting "The Vampire Diaries" for him to try on another acting opportunity, particularly in the film industry. According to International Business Times, there are reports that the blame is on the "Twilight" alum Nikki Reed, Somerhalder's wife.
It has been reported that Reed feels threatened for the possible comeback of Nina Dobrev, Somerhalder's ex-girlfriend, to the show. She does not want the two to reconnect in TVD. Dobrev left "The Vampire Diaries" last May after playing the lead role of Elena Gilbert for almost six years.
However, according to Celebrity Laundry, Nina refuses to work again with Ian in the said vampire drama. "Dobrev likely took the tease as a slap in the face, as it insinuates Nina would eventually come crawling back to the show because she can't score any other roles."
The two stars, Dobrev and Somerhalder dated for about three years. They met at the set of "The Vampire Diaries" way back 2009. After a year from their split up, Ian dated Nikki who happened to be Nina's friend. Since then both Dobrev and Reed are no longer in speaking terms.
The Celebrity Laundry, also reported that Reed is seemingly pushing Somerhalder to take on the role of Jack Hyde for "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel, the "Fifty Shades Darker." She wants his husband to take on the role and encourage him to take his career further by making movies. James Foley is said to be directing the sequel and casting rumors have been running around for the new added characters. And there is a strong possibility that Ian will be taking on the role of Jack Hyde.
Reed has been a supportive wife that is why she wants Somerhalder to move into making films. By quitting "The Vampire Diaries" Ian will be distanced from the stigma of his past with Dobrev. Nikki knows for a fact that for the eyes of the public Ian is "Nina Dobrev's ex-boyfriend" and not "Nikki Reed's husband."
