U.S. Open 2015 Quarterfinals Update: Roger Federer on His Way to 18th Grand Slam?

U.S. Open 2015 is on its quarterfinals now and we will be witnessing Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka, Simona Halep and Petra Kvitova go up against lower-seeded rivals at Flushing Meadows.

U.S. Open 2015's  second seed in the men's draw, Federer went up against 12th Richard Gasquet of France, in the major game at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, The Guardian reported.

Currently hoping to capture his 18th Grand Slam title and his first since the 2012 Wimbledon, Federer is a heavy favorite heading into the match, but the French Gasquet is a competition that is hard to beat.

"I really like the way he played in Wimbledon, and also now here. I haven't seen that much. But the match I saw that he played against Stan and Novak at Wimbledon was impressive. He had a good attitude, "according to an article on US Open.

Meanwhile, fifth seed Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland will again attempt to move to the US Open semis.  This will be the second time in his career when he takes on Kevin Anderson of South Africa, who is ranked as 15th seed.

U.S. Open 2015  women's row, on the other hand, will feature Simona Halep of Romania, currently in second seed battlling it out for a spot in the semis with 20th seed Victoria Azarenka. Halep needed three sets in order to defeat Sabine Lisicki, 24th seed, in the fourth round.  Azarenka eliminated Varvara Lepchenko in straight sets.

U.S. Open 2015's fifth seed Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic will also try to move forward to the semifinals as she takes on 26th seed Flavia Pennetta of Italy.

U.S. Open 2015  is waiting for Serena Williams, currently on the top seed and unseeded Roberta Vinci of Italy have already reserved a spot in the women's quarterfinals.  Top seed Novak Djokovic and defending champion Marin Cilic have advanced to quarterfinals of the men's tournament after winning on Tuesday.
