Top 5 Home Security Gadgets

It is important to live in a home that is secure and safe especially if there are kids and elders in the family. These days, we no longer merely rely on padlocks or door knobs or other locks for the home because there are already smart home gadgets. These gadgets doesn't just make life more convenient but these will also make your home more secure. If you are looking for a security upgrade for your home, there are some gadgets that you can choose from. Check out the list we have below:

1. August Smart Lock. The August Smart Lock allows you to use your phone to gain entry to your home. The Smart Lock could also sense if you are near you home using Bluetooth and it will automatically open the door. When you are inside the house, the door will lock behind you. In case you forgot to lock the door, you can use the lock's app to secure your home. The smart lock could also give you a convenient way to grant access to your guests. It could also be attached to your deadbolt so you can still use your keys to lock when your phone's battery is empty.

2. Nest Cam. The Nest Cam can stream a high-quality video right to your phone to let you know what's going on at your home. This gadget can be integrated with Nest Protect and Thermostat. It will notify the thermostat when you are away and you could check when the Protect alarm goes off. Video streams are stored on Nest Aware, the company's monthly subscription service, allowing you up to 30 days to backup your videos. The company doesn't just aim to help you catch criminals or burglars but it will also allow you to keep and share memories inside the house. Subscription rate is between $10 and $30 a month.

3. SkyBell Smart Doorbell. A doorbell is a small item in the house which could not be given much attention but it could actually be used as a security for your home too. SkyBell is a digital doorbell that could be linked to your smart phone so you can see, hear and talk to anyone who comes to the door. An addition to that feature, the smart doorbell has a two-way intercom where you can talk to the person at the door.

4. Netatmo Welcome. Same as the Nest Cam, this also streams high-definition video directly to your phone or tablet. Welcome has the ability to recognize familiar faces and would alert you if a stranger enters the house. Aside from spotting potential crooks, the camera could also send personalized updates like when the kids are back home from school. To avoid costly monthly fees, you can use an SD card to capture videos.

5. Canary. Canary is an all-in-one security system that features motion sensors and a wide-angle camera that can be used to scan for unusual activity. If something suspicious is going on, a live video feed can be sent to you and you can have an option whether to sound a siren, contact a neighbor or call the police. Aside from its home security features, it can also tell your home's humidity, temperature and air quality.
