'Fifty Shades Darker' Spoilers: Fans React Over News Ian Somerhalder Or Theo James Could Play Jack Hyde

Fans of "Fifty Shades Darker" were surprised to hear two big news this week. First, it was revealed that the "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel will be directed by "House of Cards" director James Foley. Second, there were rumors that "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and "Allegiant" actor Theo James are in the running to play the role of Jack Hyde.

Immediately after news broke that Somerhadler or James would play Jack in "Fifty Shades Darker," fans of both male stars reacted online nonstop. According to News Everyday, some fans believe that Somerhalder is the better option for the role because of his experience on "The Vampire Diaries."

On The CW series, Somerhalder plays the role of Damon Salvatore. The actor's character is described as a mysterious vampire who is not afraid to take risks and make mistakes. With this, fans believe that Somerhalder could give life to Jack's mysterious aura.

On the other hand, James' fans believe that he is a better fit for the role of Jack. This is because the actor has reprised his role as Four on the "Divergent" series at least three times now. James' supporters believe that the actor exude a kind of manly appeal that is very similar to E.L. James' fictional character Jack.

As of late, Universal Pictures has not yet confirmed or denied rumors that Somerhadler or James would play the role of Jack in "Fifty Shades Darker." However, there's a chance that these rumors are similar to the one that linked "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" star Henry Cavill to the same role.

In a recent interview with USA Today, Cavill confirmed that he will not play Jack Hyde. The actor added that he never had any discussions with the production company or James herself.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
