'Stephen Colbert' Steps In as New Host For CBS’s ‘Late Show’, Date Revealed

Stephen Colbert will replace David Letterman in the CBS TV installment, "Late Show." He will replace Letterman this coming Tuesday. As his guests for his two weeks in the part, it was revealed that he will have a high dose of politicians to grill on the hot seat.

As reported by USA Today, Stephen Colbert, an actor/comedian in the famous TV installment "Comedy Central," will face a new twist in his latest project, hosting CBS' "Late Show," replacing David Letterman.

During an interview, Colbert declared that his spot on the show has been his long-time dream job. He stated, "I like meeting the guests, I like the grind, I like a live audience, I love to hear the laughter. It's the only job I could imagine that was a promotion."

He added, "I was very proud of the show we had done, we'd had some success with it. (But) if I was going to do another live show in front on an audience, taking over for Dave was the only thing that had a laurel wreath on it."

Apparently, Colbert saw the opportunity as more of a blessing for his career. In fact, he has admired Letterman for years and even spent time with him at the Ed Sullivan Theater where he and the former "Late Show" host showed him how to use a freight elevator to get from the show's offices to the stage.

According to the report, his first guests are to be George Clooney and Jeb Bush. His first episode on the show will start this Tuesday, which will be an extended opener. Other guests this week comprises of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. His celebrity guests include Scarlet Johansson, Jake Gyllenhaal and Lupita Nyong'o.

As reported by Sydney Morning Herald, his guest list revealed that he will not cater mostly celebrities but that of politicians making his appearance on the show a substantive interview with politicians. In fact, Vice President Joe Biden will be gusting this coming September 10.
