Super Smash Bros 4' DLC: Characters To Include Shovel Knight? Nintendo Gives Details at PAX Prime 2015

Avid fans and players of "Super Smash Bros 4" have been speculating whether or not "Shovel Knight" will be included in the game's upcoming DLC. A recent announcement that says Shovel Knight will get a first official third-party Amiibo sparked another wave of rumor. However, the game developer Yacht Club has been mum on the subject, a report from iDigital Times said on Tuesday.

Speaking at Pax Prime, Yacht Club's Sean Velasco said, "No, we don't have anything to say about that," responding to a question from the crowd if Shovel Knight will be added as a DLC character in "Super Smash Bros 4." It was said that Velasco has recently announced an amiibo for Shovel Knight, saying, "We're the first third-party amiibo being made."

"Nintendo, they do this thing where they go to developers and tell them what's next. We brought up amiibo, and they gave us a run-down of everything. We never thought we could do a third-party amiibo, but that's what Nintendo's plan was," said Velasco as quoted in the report.

Nintendo News reports that Shovel Knight is actually a shovel-wielding hero of a popular game of the same name. The game was released to multiple consoles such as Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and others.

Regarding the rumor, it was said that Yacht Club Games branded them as "fake." However, Nintendo Life claims otherwise.

"We've managed to unearth some fresh evidence which suggests that Yacht Club Games' famous character is indeed about to take a bow in Nintendo's famous fighter. We've been in touch with multiple sources within the video game retail sector - which we sadly can't name as it could lead to their dismissal - who claim that Shovel Knight is indeed about to make to his Smash Bros. début, and there will be an amiibo figure to accompany this grand event," Nintendo Life noted.
