'Fifty Shades Darker' Release Date & Cast: Ian Somerhalder To Play Jack Hyde?

"Fifty Shades Darker" fans are looking forward to finding out who will be playing the role of Jack Hyde. In recent weeks, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" actor Henry Cavill already confirmed that he won't be playing the role. Now fans are wondering who could possibly take his place.

According to Melty, one of the actors fit for the role of Jack Hyde is "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder. On the CW series, Somerhalder plays the role of a mysterious vampire who has a good and bad side. Although Jack isn't a vampire, his character on "Fifty Shades Darker" has that mysterious appeal that Somerhalder could reportedly easily pull off.

The publication also noted that Somerhalder could be a great casting choice for Universal Pictures and E.L. James because he is known for being a "hot mess" on "The Vampire Diaries."

In the book, Jack will become Anastasia Steele's (Dakota Johnson) new boss. As Christian Grey's (Jamie Dornan) nemesis, Jack will also attempt to make a move at Anastasia, which will ultimately piss Christian off.

Although it is a well-known fact that Anastasia and Christian will end up together, the Jack Hyde storyline is a great inclusion to make "Fifty Shades Darker" a more thrilling installment compared to "Fifty Shades of Grey."

In the past, it was already teased that the sequel will be darker. In the black and white teaser released a few months ago, Christian was featured wearing a mask for the masquerade ball. The single note piano sound added to the thrilling vibe of the clip.

As of late, it has not yet been confirmed whether or not Somerhalder will be playing the role of Jack. It is still unclear whether or not the actor would be open to the idea.

"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
