'Downton Abbey' Season 6 Trailer: Final Season Video Will Leave You In Tears [watch]

It's finally getting to an end. "Downton Abbey" will close its doors by this season's end. They have released their first trailer for the last episodes and it will undeniably break your heart!

"Downton Abbey" season 6 trailer will undoubtedly bring tears to your eyes. We have seen these characters grow before our eyes this past seasons so saying goodbye to a well loved series would be very tough. In the trailer, the characters had to deal with something that's beyond anybody's control - time. Lord Grantham says to Mr. Carson, "If I could stop history in its tracks, maybe I would. But I can't, Carson, for neither you nor I can hold back time." With these lines, it would be really hard to hold back tears.

The series will pick up in 1925 and in the trailer, we see glimpses of Lady Edith, Lady Mary, Anna, Thomas, and Dowager Countess.

Hugh Bonnevile, the series' Lord Grantham, said at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour, that "This final season very much has a flavor of the end of an era, you know, quite literally..."

As to the decision to finally end "Downton Abbey", Hugh says, "We were all expecting to finish after Series 5. And it was Julian who said to us... he felt it would be a bit truncated to try and bring it in to land over in that fifth series, so he asked if we wanted to do another nine episodes to make the stories all land in a more appropriate way."

Gareth Neame, the executive producer, also said that a few more seasons might have been possible, but they have decided that this is the right time for a wrap up. He says, "Everyone's been completely supportive of Julian and the producers and the cast who all felt that now was the right time. There's no question we could have made a Season 7 or 8. I'm sure they would have been fantastic, but it's about leaving a little bit earlier than you might."

"Downton Abbey" final season will premiere on the 20th of September in the UK and 3rd of January in the US.
