Benedict Cumberbatch Son: 'Sherlock Holmes' Actor and Wife Sophie Hunter Reveal Baby's Name After Two Months

After two months of giving birth to a bouncing baby boy, Benedict Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Hunter finally revealed their first child's name. Two-month-old Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch's name is close to his dad's name.

Express reports that the name Carlton is special for the "Sherlock Holmes" star as he shares the middle name with his father as well, while Christopher came from one of the characters Cumberbatch has portrayed back in 2012. He played Christopher in the BBC Show "Parade's End," which was written by Sir Tom Stoppard.

Christopher Carlton was born in June 1 this year at the celebrity go-to The Portland Hospital at Westminster. A representative requested for privacy during the time for the beautiful couple.

The couple was reportedly delighted at the arrival of their newborn baby. The British couple wed back in December and shortly announced that they were expecting a month after.

Meanwhile, Cumberbatch is now busy with the stage play "Hamlet," which has received rave reviews from many critics. Variety says that his portrayal of the title role "gradually casts off the shell of Hamlet as depressed, vengeful stepson for something much more significant and politically potent." Although the play in itself has been given mixed reviews, Cumberbatch's performance is still appreciated by most.

Cumberbatch's part in "Hamlet" has made a frenzy that fans recently mobbed the actor after a show. The Independent also reports about a veteran technician at the West End who has quit his job after three decades after a social media row with Cumberbatch's fans.

The technician merely stated on Twitter: "The Cumberbatch Hamlet madness - not my cup of tea - I don't think the 'fans' understand the concept of Theatre," which then reportedly resulted in death threats and angry rants from fans. The techinician then decided to walk off from his job instead, reports claim.
