It's a controversy that is at par with President Grant and Olivia Pope's extramarital affair on ABC's "Scandal."
For those who are unfamiliar with the premise of the Shonda Rimes-created show, it features Kerry Washington as crisis management expert Olivia Pope, and Tony Goldwyn as U.S. President Fitzgerald Grant, who have an affair during Grant's term in office.
Of course, nothing like that is happening with the current U.S. President, but it does give a look into the controversy that is currently blazing through Capitol Hills, after adultery website AshleyMadison.com was hacked, and some sensitive information of users were released into the Internet.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, in July, the hackers demanded that the service be shut down. Avid Life, the owner of AshleyMadison.com, however, faced down the threat, prompting the illegal release of user information.
The controversy echoes last year's hacking of Sony Pictures Entertainment's e-mail system, which revealed Hollywood politics at its dirtiest, including the pay gap between the male and female actors in the movie "American Hustle," Sony executives' racist remarks against President Obama, and a studio honcho's criticism of Angelina Jolie.
According to Realtor, business is stronger than ever in the D.C. area, as the city's reputation as the country's most adulterous city (for the third year!) is causing an upward movement in the predictions for growth in home ownership in the District of Columbia. Employees of the White House, Department of Homeland Security, the Pentagon, and the Justice Department, are included in the city's Ashley Madison users (a whopping 10.4% or around 60,000 people).
Apartments in the area, ranging $300,000 up, are being snatched up as love coves of these extra-marital affairs.
One of the available units in 1350 Maryland Avenue NE, costs $399,900. The unit is said to have an "expansive roofdeck with grill and gaming" while another, 644 Massachusetts Avenue NE, is said to be bright and airy.
