The Garden of Eden Hits the Market

A custom-built 12,030 square foot residence in Denver’s Castle Pines Village has hit the market for $10 million. With modernist architecture and beautifully landscaped gardens the house, Gan Aden, Hebrew for The Garden of Eden, is designed in such a way that it provides privacy for public and private functions.

“This home is a design lover’s dream,” listing agent Judy Fahrenkrog of Kentwood City Properties, said in a statement. “The architecture is amazing, and the interior appointments include a collection of extraordinary period pieces that were collected over several years, and many of the furnishings come from early-to-mid-20th-Century modern design icons.”

Highlights of the three-bedroom property include an outdoor courtyard, a waterfall, a gym, sophisticated kitchen with high-end appliances and a temperature controlled wine closet with red leather walls.

The master bedroom has two baths, adjacent of which is an office space with a salt-water aquarium.

“The design encourages indoor and outdoor living, as natural daylight has been manipulated and maximized to create vibrant space,” a press release by the listing firm states.

The grounds have rock formations and a beautifully landscaped garden. Beside the pool is a Japanese teahouse, the walls of which can be removed to enhance connection to the garden and pool.

“The exquisite gardens alone entail a US $6 million investment to create an outdoor paradise that may be unmatched in Colorado,” said Fahrenkrog. “The design team created an eight-foot water wall beside a stairway that descends through a grove of chanticleer pear trees. The ‘floor’ of the outdoor room is a shallow pool cut by a stone bridge.”

Describing the property, Clayton Andrews, Senior Vice President of Christie’s International Real Estate, said “this exceptional residence truly epitomizes architecture as art. Melding luxurious amenities and contemporary architecture with the architects' unique artistic vision results in a masterpiece rarely matched in a residential home.”
