Jim Morrison Net Worth: "The Doors" Frontman's Last Apartment Up for Sale

The last reported apartment of the late great Jim Morrison would be put up for sale. According to a report from la.curbed.com, the apartment was inhabited by the Doors frontman between mid 1969 up until his death in 1971.

The Cheri Amour, as the West Hollywood apartment complex was fondly called, had plans to become a bed and breakfast. According to owner Cheri Woods, they were near to realizing that plan until it was changed to just sell the property.

The complex was built back in 1932 and has a total of five apartment units. Each apartment unit has two bedrooms but no interior photographs were made public. While the building is rent controlled, the owner had invoked the California Ellis Act allowing landlord to evict tenants when the building would be converted to another use. When the transaction is done, the complex would be delivered tenant free to the new owner who can purchase it for $2.995 million.

The bed and breakfast plan would become a historical landmark, but protests against it were louder especially with the Morrison connection. The application was put on hold by the West Hollywood Historic Preservation Commission, as it required further documentation that the late cult singer had actually resided in the apartment. The mere testimony of the landlord of screamfights between Morrison and then girlfriend Pamela Courson did not give much credence to the application.

Jim Morrison was the lead singer of the '60's band The Doors, who popularized songs such as "People are Strange" and more. Their greatest hit was "Light My Fire" which took the band to the top of the rock and roll charts of the era. He partied hard and died of heart failure on July 3, 1971.  According to celebritynetworth.com, Morrison was worth $15 million at his death.
