Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Tie Knot at Oldest Working Plantation

When actors Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively decided to get hitched, their perfect location turned out to be America’s oldest working plantation - the Boone Hall Plantation – where the gorgeous scenery provided the perfect setting to celebrate their love.

Located at Mt Pleasant in South Carolina, the plantation incidentally was where Notebook was shot. The Boone Hall Plantation was shown as the Hamilton’s summer house in the movie.

Reynolds and Lively had acted together in the Green Lantern and in 2011 and had bought a house in Bedford, New York early this year. The house is worth more than $2 million, reports said.

Meanwhile, on the couple taking the wedding down south, sources say it is no big surprise.

“Ryan has always loved it here,” Kelly Gukanovich of Charleston radio station 95.1 FM told E!. “When he got together with Blake, he started to bring her here, too.”

The plantation has always been a preferred weddings and parties venue, mainly due to its colonial feel. The plantation still features nine original slave cabins and has been growing crops for over 320 years. The slave cabins reportedly date back to 1,700, according to Hookedonhouses. Besides, it also features a butterfly garden and a colonial revival style 1936 mansion.

The plantation, which is owned by the McRae Family, has been open to public throughout the year since 1956. Every visitor is taken on a tour so that they understand the day-to-day activities of those who lived on plantations and the history of people who lived in the Boon Hall.

Currently, it produces strawberries, tomatoes, pumpkins and many other fruits and vegetables that visitors can enjoy.
