‘World of Warcraft’ Update: Blizzard Hints MMO Sequel While Focusing on Draenor & Legion Expansions

On Monday, game developer Blizzard has clarified its rumored plans of developing a sequel for its popular massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, the "World of Warcraft." This is after Blizzard has unveiled the company's newest expansion in the video game, which is the Legion. The revelation of the Legion expansion has led avid fans to wonder if a new sequel will be pushed through, a report from Design & Trend said.

According to the website, Blizzard has broken its silence and has issued an official statement regarding the rumored sequel of the "World of Warcraft" video game. During the Gamescom 2015 event, Allen Brack, executive producer of the "World of Warcraft," has reportedly expressed reservation on producing a sequel, saying that most of the sequels tend to perform "poorly."

"You know, there's not really a great model for a successful sequel MMO. Virtually all of them have been very significant failures and I think we're very conscious of that - not just small failures, either. We're not actively working on anything on the MMO front that is not 'World of Warcraft.' We were completely dedicated to the Warlords of Draenor expansion and now the Legion expansion. We're even thinking about the expansion after that - we're already talking about what comes next," Brack said as quoted by the aforementioned website.

Brack emphasized that the company will continue to focus its resources on the original "World of Warcraft" video game instead. He also said that Blizzard will continue to work on the next expansion afterLegion, despite fans' speculation of a sequel to the video game.

Clearly, what Brack has said could be interpreted as the current firm stance of the company. It can be recalled that Blizzard has previously worked on an MMO project which was codenamed "Project Titan." The reported project, however, was cancelled because it eventually failed in meeting some internal expectations, according to Tech Times.
