8 Must-Have Secret Storage Weapons

Storage is a constant struggle for every home. Regardless of the size of your space, you still end up feeling you don't have enough of it or you have the wrong kind. But the good news is, there are already a lot of storage solutions these days to combat not-so-ideal storage situations.

Here are 8 must-have secret storage weapons you need according to Apartment Therapy:

Tension rods

If you get creative, you can make a lot of other uses for tension rods than just to hold curtains. Use them in your closet to keep clothes organized, under sinks to hold bottles, in furniture, and pretty much anything you can think of.

An outbox

It could be a bag, a box, or a drawer - actually anything that will serve as a designated storage for things that you don't need, wish to donate, or give away.

Bungee cords and plastic bags

These two tools are your bestfriends when dealing with bulky items like winter sweaters or comforters. Use the plastic bags to shrink down the items with fluffy materials and double up the space you can save. Bungee cords are good for downsizing things like a twin size mattress by folding it down to fit atop a shelf.

An extra closet rod

If you can, add extra closet rods - two or three or how many you can fit based on the height of the space. Not only will you have more place to hang your clothes, it would also allow you to arrange them in sections to make finding what you want easier.

The flip-the-hanger trick

Although not an actual item, this trick will help you keep track of items you use and not use: after you wear each item, turn the empty hangers around when you put your clothes back in the closet after washing. You'll soon see what you wear a lot, and what you never touch!

DIY dividers

Create smaller partitions in your drawers to make sense of the contents. Who else have drawers that look like mini junkyards? Just DIY using recycled cardboards so you don't need to spend a single penny.

Risers and extra shelves

Maximize your shelf space by using extra shelves or shelf risers. If you have one designated shelf for your favorite books and you don't have much of them, make use of that extra space above to store other items instead of leaving that a wasted space.

Behind the door hooks

Use the back space of your door and hang everyday-use items with the help of hooks. Or, have more space to hang kitchen things by installing them at the back cabinet doors.
