Check Out South Bay’s New Hangout Spot: The Point Shopping Center

Finally, the shopping, dining and entertainment destination the residents of the South Bay have been waiting for is now open to the public. The Point, one of Los Angeles' highly-anticipated shopping center, has opened last July 30 in El Segundo.

According to a report by L.A. Curbed, the 115,000 square feet of lot was installed with 30 shops and restaurants. The Point also offers lots of open areas, a little bit of office space, and abundant parking lots.

The shopping center was designed by Architects Orange, with dreams of turning it into South Bay's "living room." Aside from shopping and dining areas, summer concerts and movie points will also be added, as planned by the Federal Realty Investment Trust, the developers of the project.

According to the Daily Breeze, The Point, which lies at the corner of Rosecrans and Sepulveda in El Segundo and right next door to Plaza El Segundo, offers a relaxing outdoor patio seating and a water fountain. There are lots to experience at the new shopping plaza as well.

The opening of the expansive new $80 million shopping and dining center has made the vice president of the Federal Realty Investment Trust, Jan Sweetnam, feel sweet gratification. "Not often do you see (a project) on paper, and you see it in reality and it's even better than you could have imagined," said Sweetnam. "This looks and feels better. It smells better. It really turned out much brighter, much crisper than I ever could have imagined," Sweetnam added in his interview with the Daily Breeze.

Twelve retailers and restaurants have opened on the same day of the opening of The Point, while another 11 storefronts will debut on a rolling basis.

From August to September, there will be outdoor tribute concerts featured every Wednesday at The Point.
