‘Assassin’s Creed’ Release Date: Ubisoft Reveals New Modern-Era Gameplay

On Thursday, game developer Ubisoft announced that it will be bringing back the modern-era gameplay for "Assassin's Creed Syndicate." This fresh development will eventually "make sense" for the ongoing conflict between the Assassins and Templars, Gamespot reported.

"The Assassin's Creed series story is still going somewhere, absolutely. The overarching story is divided up into cycles. So we had what we called the Desmond cycle, which ended with AC3. Black Flag was the transition point between the Desmond cycle and the new cycle," Marc-Alexis Cote, "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" creative director, said as quoted in the aforementioned website.

The report stressed that the "new cycle" pointed out by Cote will reportedly start with the "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" and added that it will go through the Assassins and Templars' present clashes, including the narrative and meaning of their struggle to control the modern society.

In the said article, Cote cited that "Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag" and "Assassin's Creed Unity" are "transitionary period leading into the new narrative arc," which come after the "Assassin's Creed 3" story, from which the "Assasin's Creed Syndicate" will eventually pick up.

According to a related report from Game Dynamo, the video game series has been trekking on a "pre-determined path." The report also emphasized that an arc which started in the original version of the "Assassin's Creed" has been concluded and followed up by standalone stories such as the "Assassin's Creed Unity."

"I can't go into details about the present-day story, other than to say it is coming back, it is going to make sense for our players, and they're going to understand the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars. One of the things that's been super important for me and for the team is to make sure the player feels in the present-day story that he or she has importance," Cote stressed.

Meanwhile, the company has reportedly announced that "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" will be released on October 23. It will arrive for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A PC version of the game will also follow. However, it stressed that the game will not be released for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 consoles.
