Ted Nugent: Death Of Cecil, The Lion, Is a Lie

"A lion, a dentist and a hunter"

That would seem to be an ideal title for another Hollywood film, as the fiasco about the death of national park Lion continues to stir some noise in the jungles of the internet. The sad news about the death of Cecil, a lion considered by Zimbabwe as an icon, was claimed to be a lie by political activist and hunter.

It can be remembered that reports about a dentist, named Walter Palmer, being accused of illegally killing Cecil the Lion after luring him out from a Zimbabwean game reserve surfaced on the internet; and such news was able to gain negative comments from the netizens and famous individuals from different industry.

Amidst the bashing and criticism of the alleged lion killer, Ted Nugent, a hunter and activist stated that the story behind the accusation is all but a lie.  On his Facebook account, when asked what his thought on Cecil the Lion and Walter Palmer, Ted replied saying that:

"The whole story is a lie. It was a wild lion from a "park" where hunting is legal & ESSENTIAL beyond the park borders. All animals reproduce every year & would run out of room/food to live w/o hunting. I will write a full piece on this joke asap. God are people stupid"

Such statement which seemingly defends his fellow hunter, Dr. Palmer, is something not to be considered as unexpected or unusual coming from Nugent. For this hunter is pretty vocal about his stand defending both gun ownership and hunting. He even runs his own Ted Nugent Sunrize Safari which offer dream hunts in America, Canada and even Africa. And to complement the hunt, he also has his own brand of arrows.

In an interview with the National Geographic Channel last 2013, and as stated on theguardian website, Nugent insisted on the role of those who kill animals with guns and bows as true conservationist. As to his words, "we put value on wild ground".  He then added that the poor image of hunting lies with the media. "The major networks and so many major publications in the world only expose the most callous and ugly examples of poaching and accidents in our sport."

In the end, whatever the claims and statements of Ted Nugent, it still does not diminish the fury of the people and animal rights advocates in connection to the death of Cecil the lion.
