Top Gear’s Dynamic Trio Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May to Host a New Show in Amazon Prime for $250 Million

The dynamic trio and former hosts of the popular BBC motoring show, Top Gear, were employed by Amazon for a hefty price of $250 million.

The trio, composed of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, are known for their humorous comments and extensive knowledge of cars. The former trio can also be held responsible for the high ratings of Top Gear in television views and online streams.

Jeremy Clarkson was first to leave BBC's Top Gear after his controversial dismissal caused by a "physical altercation" he had with one of his Top Gear colleagues. Hammond and May also left the show not long after.

Jay Marine, Amazon Prime Video EU vice-president, said: "Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to make that happen."

"We can't wait to see what Jeremy, Richard, James, and the team will create in what is sure to be one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016."

For the new show, the vigorous trio will be reunited with a former colleague, Andy Wilman, who is Top Gear's former Executive Producer.

Andy Wilman said to the Radio Times, "(T)hey'll give us the freedom to make the programme we want...there's a budget to produce programmes of the quality we want and this is the future." He also added, "I can't tell you how good it feels to get the chance to produce something from scratch. We're all really excited. No one telling us what we can and can't do, just us hopefully producing great programmes. It feels really liberating."

In a statement from Amazon, Clarkson said: "I feel like I've climbed out of a biplane and into a spaceship." Hammond's comment was, "Amazon? Oh yes. I have already been there. I got bitten by a bullet ant." May added that, "We have become part of the new age of smart TV. Ironic, isn't it?"
