Toronto Blue Jays Trades Three Upcoming Southpaw Pitchers to Detroit Tigers for David Price

Just a few days after trading for Troy Tulowitzki, Blue Jays sacrificed three of its well-regarded left-handed pitchers to acquire David Price.

Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd, and Jairo Laibert are the three upcoming southpaws who were traded to the Tigers.

The bold move made by Toronto Blue Jays general manager, Alex Anthopoulos, shocked the world of MLB.

Here are some of the reactions of some MLB players on Twitter:

"Pardon my rudeness for being on my phone Professor. We just picked up @DAVIDprice14 and it's kind of a big deal. Lol @DukeU @BlueJays" -Marcus Stroman, @MStrooo6

"It's gettin hot up in the six!!" -Josh Donaldson, @BringerOfRain20

"Am I dreaming? @DAVIDprice14 can't wait to get you here. Welcome my friend.. It's getting real in the #6ix #Bluejays #WeOwnTheNorth #Tdot" -LaTroy Hawkins, @LaTroyHawkins32

"If anyone wants to know what it looks like to be all in, check out the Jays." -Chris Archer, @ChrisArcher42

"Welcome @DAVIDprice14" -Russel Martin, @russelmartin55

Here is what David Price tweeted earlier on July 30: "I don't care what happens today...I'm taking BP at 2 in Camden no matter what...don't care what anyone says" -David Price, @DAVIDprice14

In the press conference conducted by the Blue Jays, Anthopoulos commented on the exchange made to gain Price, "I like the group. I like the mix, from character and makeup to talent, athleticism, defence, all those type of things, I like the mix that we have right now. Adding David Price? Who wouldn't be pleased with that?"

The Blue Jays are 51-51, but they trail the Minnesota Twins by just 2.0 games in the Wild Card race. The Blue Jays are now viewed by rival executives as a legitimate playoff threat with the addition of Price and Tulowitzki to their rosters. This, despite the team's mediocre record and performance in the season.
