Rental Upgrades You Can Take After Your Lease Ends

Don't pull yourself back on creating the perfect rental place just because you're staying in that place temporarily. You never know, you might just stay in there for longer than you think and you don't want to feel uncomfortable (and unhappy) in that span of time.

Did you know that you can actually splurge on some rental upgrades? Yes, that's right! But don't worry; you can take them with you to your next home.

Here are some rental upgrades you can spend on but take with you when your lease ends according to Apartment Therapy:

Kitchen faucet

A quick and easy way to perk off a kitchen is by getting a really functional and chic kitchen faucet. Pick one that's a statement piece and it's okay to go for the gold solid brass one since you can just easily remove it when you're done renting the place.

Shower head

Most rental units use sad, standard-issue shower heads. But you don't have to deal with that depressing thing every morning; get yourself a new one that's stylish and economical. Not only will you feel better for having a good looking hardware, you could also save water consumption by opting for the low-flow kind.

Window coverings

If you don't want to use curtains, then consider replacing the beige-ish vinyl mini blinds that came with your unit with really nice blinds, shades, or window film. However, re-using this means that your window size should be similar to the ones you have in your next home (that's why it's often better to stick to standard sizes).

Cabinet handles & pulls

These knick knacks may be small, but they can greatly influence the look of your space. There are plenty of really stylish and sleek handles and pulls in home design shops that you can easily screw into your cabinets and replace the boring and sterile looking ones that came with your unit. Just make sure to choose those that would fit in the existing holes of the cabinets so you don't have to make new ones (you might not even be allowed to do that).

Toilet paper holder

A sturdy and attractive toilet paper could easily give your bathroom character. After all, this is one thing you will surely see and touch every day. So don't stick to the original flimsy plastic-made one; replace it with something that could improve the look and feel of your bathroom.

Toilet seat

The bathroom is an important room, and it is just understandable to turn it into something you would actually feel happy to be in. Although having comfortable toilet seat is not as important or as life-changing as having a good mattress (it's close), remember that you will be sitting in that thing even more than you will be lying on your bed.

Light fixtures

This is one thing you can splurge on. As we always say, lighting is everything! Would you like to get one with a dimmer? How about getting a really expensive looking one to boost the look of your living space? Your new hardware will help make your space look great plus it is something you can take and love for years to come even when you have moved out.

Light switch and power outlets

Go for modern-looking and sleeker light switch and power outlets and say goodbye to ugly colored ones that the unit originally has. You never know how much this simple detail could add that edge to your space as well give off that sense of attention to detail.
