'Spider-Man Reboot' Spoilers & Cast News: Director Jon Watts Weighs In On Why Tom Holland Is The Perfect Peter Parker

"Spider-Man Reboot" direct Jon Watts recently opened up about actor Tom Holland and revealed why he thinks he is the best fit for the role of Peter Parker or Spider-Man. According to an interview with Entertainment Weekly, one of the main reasons why he thinks Holland will be effective for the role is the fact that he could look like an actual high school student.

"He can be a real high school student. That's why people love Spider-Man. He's the most grounded, relatable of superheroes and Tom can really do that. He captures that and he can do a standing back-flip. He's perfect," Watts gushed.

Meanwhile, Watts also talked about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and expressed his excitement over his collaboration with the other directors. Holland will reportedly make a cameo as Peter Parker on "Captain America: Civil War" before he stars in his own standalone film, according to IGN.

"I mean, it's a big universe, so everyone sort of works with each other to make sure that there's continuity and that it all fits together. It's really exciting actually. We're just getting started, working on the script and all that, but it's going to be a great process," he explained.

Watts' recent statements seem to debunk rumors that Holland is already filming his scenes for "Spider-Man" reboot. Not only is the film pegged for a 2018 release, Watts also said that at the moment, they are still helming the script.

Just recently, fans of Holland thought that he could be filming his first scenes as Peter Parker after the actor shared an aerial photo of Toronto while on board a plane. Others speculated that he could also be filming his scenes for his cameo on "Suicide Squad."

"Spider-Man Reboot" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on July 28, 2017.
