'Fallout Shelter' Android: The Long Wait Is Over: Bethesda Confirms August 13 Release Date

"Fallout" fans who are Android mobile users have something to celebrate after game developer Bethesda finally announced that it will release "Fallout Shelter" for Android on August 13. Bethesda claimed that once the mobile game is rolled out, it will include new features, a report from Tech Times said on Monday.

PC Advisor said that the update includes Mr. Handy, which was described as a robotic companion that has the ability to collect resources inside the vault. Mr. Handy can also collect loot in the wasteland or defend the Vault from any threats from attackers and disasters. Aside from Mr. Handy, the update that will be rolled out on August 13 will also feature new threats such as the Deathclaw invasions and Molerat infestations.

'Fallout Shelter" is expected to be well-received by Android smartphone users since the iOS version of the video game got an overwhelming response from players. Tech Times reported that the game drew $5.1 million during its first two weeks, according to research firm SuperData Research. Bethesda's post-apocalyptic video game in iOS was also the most downloaded gaming app in 48 countries and was also  the top downloaded app in 25 countries, according to PC Advisor.

In the Tech Times report, Pete Hines, Bethesda's vice president of marketing, explained that the company has carefully thought about developing the "Fallout Shelter" video game. "If we just start saying yes [to more mobile games], we start getting into this thing where eight games will fail and two will succeed. That's not why 'Fallout Shelter' was great. People appreciate the game because it doesn't have our hand in your pocket. It did monetization in a way that people didn't have a problem with," Hines said.
