‘Banshee’ Season 4 Release Date, News: Drama Series Canceled by Cinemax

Sad news for "Banshee" fans as news just soared in about the drama series being canceled by Cinemax. The upcoming eighth episode of Season 4 is going to be the series' last, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Last March, "Banshee" Executive Producer Greg Yaitanes said that the show was "closer to its end than its beginning" and that the series "always had a limited premise and lifespan."

"The good thing is our relationship with Cinemax is such that when it's time to end Banshee, we'll be given an opportunity to end it respectfully," Yaitanes said. "We always push hard to make sure every episode is better than the one before it, and that takes an enormous amount of energy and creativity and work. I feel like we have a really solid three acts that we told with Lucas's story, and I'm very excited about the next chapter."

In a synopsis by PopDesign: "Banshee" centers on Lucas Hood (Antony Starr) is an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa., where he continues his criminal activities, even as he's hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier.

Carrie Hopewell (Ivana Milicevic), a notorious jewel thief who now lives in Banshee under an assumed identity, who know nothing of her past; Proctor, an intimidating, wealthy local businessman who believes he is above the law (Ulrich Thomsen); Sugar Bates, a wise, powerful former boxer and ex-con (Frankie Faison); Gulf War hero Gordon Hopewell (Rus Blackwell), Banshee's district attorney, who is married to Carrie; Deva Hopewell (Ryann Shane), Carrie and Gordon's rebellious daughter; Mr. Rabbit (Ben Cross), a ruthless Ukrainian gangster who has been hunting Lucas and Carrie, his former top thieves, for 15 years.

"Banshee" Season 4 will debut in 2016.
