8 Strange Spots To Put Your Bed (But Actually Work!)

Your bed is the very first consideration when it comes to bedroom layouts - it is after all the main and biggest element in the room. In some instances, the room will automatically dictate the position of the bed. But you are not that type, right? You are the kind who would go clever and put it somewhere unexpected.

Apartment Therapy suggests these 8 strange spots to put your bed that actually work for risk-takers like you:

Against a fireplace

Yup, you can do that. And it could actually look awesome! Instead of just abandoning that broken fireplace that you have no plans of fixing, why not make use of it by positioning your bed in a way that the mantel acts as the bed's headboard.

Tucked into bay windows

Bay windows usually end up leaving a dead space. Instead of having that useless area, why not fit the head of your bed to that shallow bumped-out space?

In a corner

A bed in a corner of the room? Now that's unexpected, and that's just how you like it. Create a pleasant symmetry by placing mirrors or curtains in the backdrop.

Off the center

For some with really awkward bedroom space, the position of the bed can be a challenge. If it is impossible to place your bed on the center, make an off center position work by paying extra attention to art and accessories.  Your bed might be hanging over into a space in front of a window - you can balance the composition by placing a plant or a mini free standing book shelf along it.

Centered in front of a window

If the only option you have is putting your bed in front of a window, avoid blocking the view by having no head board. The advantage is getting a really good sleep each time - that area is the most ventilated area of your room so you can actually feel the breeze and even see birds fly by while you rest.

Framed by wide curtains

Wide curtained windows make for good position to put your bed. Doing this allows you to have that big and bold visual focal point giving your room that added oomph.

In a closet

If you need space more than storage, then you can transform your closet into a cozy, private cocoon by bringing your bed in it.
