'Days Of Our Lives' 2015 Spoilers & Updates: Soap Opera Ratings Spike Up Amid Cancellation Rumors

"Days of Our Lives" may still be renewed despite rumors that the soap opera can no longer survive against its competition. According to TV By Numbers, the episodes of "Days of Our Lives" have received an impressive surge in ratings amid reports that the show is in danger of being cancelled.

The NBC soap delivered a 23-week high among female audiences aged 18 to 49 from July 13 to 17. Additionally, the show became a top-rating hit for the first time in seven weeks.

It is unclear whether or not the ratings of the show improved after it was announced that it could be axed. Some fans are speculating that the ratings picked up because the storyline for the entire week has also improved.

Meanwhile, in a previous interview with Soap Opera Digest, executive producer Ken Cordray revealed that they are currently looking at a way on how to improve the creative side of the soap.

"The show I was looking at was no longer recognizable as 'Days of Our Lives' to me. We had to jettison stories that were not going very well with the audience and we had to give characters on the show who were recognizable a more powerful story. But most importantly, we had to, for the 50th anniversary, months after and before, give viewers what they wanted to see," he said.

At that time, cast member Eric Martsolf, who plays the role of Brady Black, weighed in on the changes on the show now that it's heading to its 50th anniversary. The actor also said that their work will not stop just after they reach the show's 50th anniversary because it's only just the beginning for "Days of Our Lives."

As of late, it is still unclear whether or not "Days of Our Lives" will be cancelled after 50 seasons. The series airs on NBC daily.
