'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers & Cast: Olivia Pope & President Fitzgerald Grant Star In New Teaser [WATCH]

A 40-second teaser for the upcoming fifth season of "Scandal" was recently released online. In the clip released by ABC, scenes between Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) from past seasons were featured. Towards the end of the clip, President Fitz could be heard asking Olivia what will happen to them now that the former has already ended her marriage with Mellie (Bellamy Young).

Olivia responded and said, "Anything we want," suggesting that the upcoming season will center on the on-and-off couple's relationship.

In the past four seasons, Olivia and President Fitz have both struggled to stay away from each other. During those times, President Fitz was still married to Mellie, and Olivia was dating different men. The two of them would typically sneak behind their respective partners' backs but would normally decide to end their relationship.

During last season's finale episode, Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) already gave Olivia his blessing to be with the man she loves. Immediately after, she went to the White House to be with President Fitz. However, it is important to note that their relationship will never be perfect and their reunion could only mean more problems in their respective lives.

Meanwhile, there are some speculations that Foley will no longer become a series regular on "Scandal." After news broke out that the actor is feuding with Washington in real life, fans are hinting that series creator Shonda Rhimes may eventually axe him from the show.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Foley revealed that Rhimes talked to him back in Season 4 and informed him that his character will be axed from the series soon. The actor said that he didn't have negative feelings about it because he knew how Rhimes is with all of her shows and actors.

"Scandal" Season 5 will premiere on ABC on September 24.
