Android Lollilop Update: OS Rolls Out For Nexus 6, Fixes Bugs & Improves Stability and Performance

On Sunday search giant Google released the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware update specifically for Nexus 6. The update will reportedly bring some minor and major bug fixes as well as improvements for the overall stability and performance of the mobile phone. Nexus 6 mobile users can now download and install the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update via Google's Play Store, a report from Master Herald said.

According to Master Herald, Google's Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has a build number of LMY47Z and addresses the earlier bugs or issues in the mobile operating system. The report said that mobile users can access the update over-the-air (OTA). Google said that the recent firmware update has a file size of 81 MB. Mobile users can obtain the update manually or automatically.

With the recent update, Nexus 6 users will be able to use the "Screen Pinning Feature" to manage and control the phone's applications. Aside from this, users can now easily access Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other connectivity settings of the phone. The report also cited Quick Settings as one of the improvements in the Nexus 6. Users have an option to quickly access the different menu such as screen brightness, airplane mode, and screen casting, among others, by pulling down the notification bar.

A related report from International Business Times noted that the recent Android Lollipop update for the Nexus 6 follows a related release for Project Fi-based devices. The report stressed that the new Lollipop factory image is compatible with other mobile carrier-variants of Nexus 6, with the exception of T-Mobile, which is powered by a pre-released stock Android 5.1.1 firmware.

According to VC Post, the Google's Project Fi is similar to the services offered by various carriers. It works by rendering mobile data connectivity in two cellular networks. In this set-up, mobile users can actually hop in the two mobile networks. Google's Project Fi also uses Wi-Fi to allow any user to send text messages and make calls. The report emphasized that a user is charged $20/month for the unlimited text messages and calls accompanied with a flat rate of $10/GB.
