Smart Secrets To Dealing With A Small Living Room

Being the central hub of your house, the living room has to be a space you can easily move around in. But what if you live in  condo, or your living room just happens to be really small?

Fortunately, there are secrets to making that small living room look and feel like it is bigger than it actually is. Apartment Therapy wants you to try these tricks:

Add a collage of mirrors

If you like hanging things on the wall, then maybe you should try hanging a collage of mirrors to help expand the space, reflect light, and make the space feel livelier.

Go for leggy furniture

Make the room feel airier by avoiding furniture that sit flat and low on the floor. Instead, go for leggy furniture that allows the eyes to take in more visual space. You can also use that space underneath the furniture as a secret or invisible storage.

Make your coffee table pull double duty

Get extra function out of that big furniture in the middle of your living space. You can choose a coffee table with an upholstered top and it could then double as extra seating space. Or, use the inner part of the table as extra storage by choosing one that has a removable top.

Replace a side table with a tall shelf

If there's space between a wall and a sofa or chair, choose to put a tall shelf instead of a side table. By doing so, you create more storage spaces as well make the room feel more stylish.

Wall-mount lighting

Instead of eating up space by using a table as base for a lamp or by getting a floor lamp, why not free that space by choosing wall-mounted lighting?

Emphasize the coziness

Be smart when choosing your pieces so you could emphasize and enhance the coziness of your space. Choose extra plush furniture, pretty throw pillows to fill space, and sumptuous textures when deciding for pieces.
