'Iron Man 4' Release Date: Movie Confirmed by 'Iron Man 3' Director

"Iron Man" may come back for a fourth installment, but rumors are circulating that Robert Downey Jr. will be replaced as the iconic superhero. According to Master Herald, "Iron Man 3" director Shane Black revealed that "Iron Man 4" might happen and he insisted that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark amidst the rumors.

Last year, there were reports that actor Ty Simpkins who played the role of Harley Keener in "Iron Man 3" will take over the role of Iron Man from Tony Stark. This followed the reports of the possibility of Tony Stark retiring as Iron Man. However, Black apparently said in his recent interview that Robert Downey Jr. will be back for another "Iron Man" movie and he added that he is definitely sure about it.

According to Venture Capital Post, "Iron Man 4" will most likely be released by Marvel at the phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is in 2019, after the release of "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2." As of writing, numerous reports claim that Marvel and Robert Downey Jr. are on negotiation as the actor has asked for an increase of his talent fee, which is higher than the amount he got for "Iron Man 3," which is $50 million.

Robert Downey Jr. was hailed as Forbes Highest-Paid Actor in 2013 after earning an estimated $75 million from his film appearances. If ever the actor does really want an increase in salary, it is believed that Marvel Studios will not have a hard time giving it, considering that "Iron Man 3" has earned over $1.22 billion worldwide, making it the 8th highest-grossing film of all time.

Fans will have just to wait for further news about the issue. However, Iron Man is set to appear in the upcoming Captain America film, "Captain America: Civil War," which is set to premiere in May 2016.
