Microsoft is reportedly pushing a full decade of automatic updates for Windows 10 Home users. The company claimed that it will enforce all updates until 2025. This development is greatly welcomed by those users who want to keep their OS updated, an IGN report said.
However, according to the report, the said OS update cannot be disabled by users. In fact, Microsoft Windows 10 updates will reportedly be implemented whether or not a user wants them.
"The software periodically checks for system and app updates, and downloads and installs them for you. You may obtain updates only from Microsoft or authorized sources, and Microsoft may need to update your system to provide you with those updates. By accepting this agreement, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice," the end user license agreement (Eula) clause stated as quoted in the IGN report.
The Guardian pointed out that the latest preview build of Windows 10 for Home users has an automatic Windows Update system, as explicitly stated in the Eula. In the said agreement, a clause apparently states that users expressly agree to receive the automatic updates.
However, the report said that Microsoft will give more preferential control to release and install automatic updates for both Windows 10 Professional and Enterprise versions. Moreover, it stressed that users of Microsoft Windows 8.1 will be given an option to deal with the software updates, and this includes the ability to disable it completely.
As The Guardian noted, Microsoft Windows 10 Home users will be able to access the updates by either a direct download or by installing and rebooting the PC automatically. They can also simply download, install and manually reboot their computers.
Microsoft has earlier announced that Windows 10 OS will be available on July 29. The company will reportedly roll out a free upgrade for Windows 8.1 and 7 users accordingly.
