Celebrity Homes for Sale: Filmmaker Couple Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin Lists Their Victorian Manor In the Market for $16M

Another celebrity home for sale that came out this week belongs to the filmmakers Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin. The couple has now put their 1880s Victorian manor in Darlinghurst in Australia for sale following their decision to move to New York.  The massive 2700-square-meter home is up for grabs for AU$16 million (NZ$17.9m).

Luhrmann and Martin's home for sale is not new to the market. It was offered back in 2013 for AU$15 million, but the couple reportedly changed their mind after realizing that searching for new digs is not easy.

"As we have been spending shorter periods of time in Australia and are more full time in New York, our priorities centre around a settled school life for our children," the couple stated.

The Darlinghurst mansion is considered one of the saleable celebrity homes according to Sotheby's International. Michael Pallier and Harriet France of the estate company have already received numbers of inquiries from probable buyers. They claimed that there are Australian locals and even foreigners who are interested to buy the Australian property, Stuff.Co.Nz reports.

Luhrmann and Martin have lived in the 1880s Victorian manor since they rented out the property in 1997.  In 2006, they purchased it for AU$10 million and made constructive renovation to add modern touch to the mansion.

The main features of the Italian mansion include nine bedrooms, elegant bathrooms, a memorabilia room, parking that accommodates 20 cars, and its huge pool. Its interior is fully decorated with personalized carpet designs and wallpapers by costume designer and production designer Martin, Vogue reports.

Luhrmann and Martin's master suite boasts a white-themed wallpaper and wooden flooring. It also has its own fireplace and a huge antique mirror. The master's bedroom extends to a lounge where their family can comfortably rest.

Luhrmann and Martin's home for sale is also built with a modern kitchen that's fully equipped with cutting-edge appliances and equipment. The kitchen features a combination of wood and stainless work that makes the place more interesting.

The filmmaker's home is also the headquarters of their Bazmark production company. A white and black-themed office decorated with wall frames and sofas welcomes their guests.

The grand celebrity home for sale was made for pastoralist Edward Chisholm in 1808. He then sold it to Adela Taylor, wife of timber merchant and former lord mayor of Sydney Sir Allen Taylor. After some years it was turned into the psychiatric Wootten Private Hospital.  When the couple purchased the property, it was fully restored by artist Martin.
