Microsoft Lumia 940 Release Date & Specs: Leaked Photo Reveals Device Has Metal Body, Powered By Windows 10 [Rumors]

A recent rumor says that as Microsoft is gearing up for the official launch of its new operating system, Microsoft Windows 10, the software giant will also come up with a new flagship smartphone, which is Microsoft Lumia 940. The rumored Lumia 940 will apparently showcase the different hardware and software features of the new Windows 10 OS, a report from Techtimes said on Thursday.

Microsoft Lumia 940 will reportedly sport a metal build as Microsoft's upcoming phone will be fast, strong and slim, based on a leaked photo posted on Twitter on Wednesday by an alleged user named Ricciolo. The leaked photo revealed that the rumored Microsoft Lumia 940 will be unveiled in September during the IFA event.

According to Phone Arena, the rumored Lumia 940 is the successor of Nokia Lumia 930, which was released last year. The rumored Microsoft Lumia 940 will have an improved 5.2-inch Super AMOLED 1080p display. The phone's rear camera will have 25 MP PureView with a triple-tone LED flash, while its front-facing camera will have 5 MP. The device will also be powered by Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor with 3 GB of random access memory, which is expandable to 128 GB.

The new Microsoft handset will reportedly come in three colors: red, green, and black. It will also be equipped with a 3250 mAh battery. Bluetooth 4, Wi-Fi 802.11, GPS, USB Type-C reversible connector, and an FM Radio are among the additional rumored features of the Microsoft Lumia 940.

However, Techtimes noted that the recent speculations on Microsoft Lumia 940 have actually been leaked since last month. The report stressed that both Lumia 940 and Lumia 940XL will eventually have high-end specifications and features to compete direcly with its rivals such as Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and Apple's iPhone product lineup. As of the moment, there is no official release date for the upcoming Lumia 940.
