'Half Life 3' News & Release Date: Game Delayed on Console, PC Due to Virtual Reality Version?

Fans and gamers expressed disappointment that "Half Life 3" is not yet available for consoles and personal computers after developers hinted that the game is on its way.

After fans were disappointed that developer Valve Corporation had no announcement during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event last month, Master Herald said enthusiasts discovered that the highly anticipated video game is indeed being developed after the company posted on its website a logo and a teaser poster for "Half Life 3." However, the poster and logo were immediately taken down when news came out about it and fans started checking out the website.

According to iSchool Guide, when a user types "valve.software" on the browser, "Maybe Next year" will appear, bringing game enthusiasts to conclude that the game will be released in 2016. Valve Corp., however, did not confirm or deny the projected release date, the report said.

It also said that the game's delay could be because the company is actually working on something big for the game. A virtual reality version of the game is reportedly in the works, which might have been the cause of the game's release on consoles and PC.

The VR version is actually being developed as Valve programmer Jeep Barnett was quoted as saying that they will see how the game is going to work when they grab some headcrabs, referring to the headgear that is being used to develop and play virtual reality games. The VR headsets were introduced by some companies during the E3 event last month.

Barnett said that they will include some machine guns, rocket launcher, and all other fun things that can be seen in "Half Life" into the VR version, the report added. He also said that the development team is exploring different designs via virtual reality for "Half Life 3."

Vine Report, on the other hand, said there is no certainty that Valve will be releasing the new game for console and PC next year, though the "maybe next year" announcement has reportedly given a lot of fans a little bit of hope.
