'X-Files' Reboot Trailer, Cast Update & Premiere Date: Mulder & Scully Reunite In New Video Promo

After the announcement of the revival of the 1990's cult series "X-Files," fans are now excited as Fox recently revealed a sneak peak of the show.

Crossmap reported that aside from Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) and Agent Scully (Gillian Anderson) returning to the show, other show alumni also agreed to reprise their consecutive roles. Mitch Pileggi will return as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner. Meanwhile, William B. Davis, despite his previous death in the show, will reportedly return as The Smoking Man who was the main protagonist of the series.

Aside from the old cast returning, there are also two new characters that will join the show, as announced previously. These actors include Joel McHale who will play the conservative news anchor Tad O'Malley and Annet Mahendru, who will play Sveta, someone who claims to be a victim of alien abductions.

Some of the fans reportedly want to get some closure in the dozens of loose ends the last "X-files" show left; however, show creator Chris Carter revealed that they do not have any plans to reboot any scenes from the previous show and will feature brand new stories for the show's revival.

In the new teaser that was shown in News.com, fans were provided with a glimpse of Agent Mulder and Agent Scully back in action as they move through a dark room using their flashlights. The teaser video also contains some footage from the original 1990's series.

The show will reportedly be a six-part reboot and will be released on January 24, 2016. To cater to fans' anticipation, the studio will air all 201 episodes of the previous show over the next 201 days before the start of the new show.

The titles for the first three episodes of the "X-Files" reboot have also been released. Episode 1 is titled "My Struggle," and episodes 2 and 3 are titled "Home Again" and "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster," respectively.
