Tom Cruise Quits Scientology For Daughter, Suri, Who Feels 'She's Talking To A Stranger'

Tom Cruise being a member of Scientology is no secret; in fact, his name is the first to come up when discussions about the religious organization is opened up. But who was once very outspoken about the religion, no longer speaks about it as often now. Is the Hollywood A-lister quitting Scientology? Rumors are circulating that the actor will be leaving Scientology for his daughter, Suri.

There have already been accusations of Scientology being the cause of Cruise's separation with former wives Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes as the two women are rumored to be regarded as "Suppressive Persons" by the Scientology upper echelon, inquisitor.com reports. A documentary, Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, by Alex Gibney gave insight to what's considered to be one of the most secretive religious organizations in today's society as well as Tom's role in it.

Tom Cruise's once All-American image was tarnished leaving him vulnerable to criticism. So much so when the documentary somewhat demanded a response from the actor and yet he kept mum on what where thrown at him.

Is the Mission Impossible star fighting an inner battle between his chosen religious organization and his life outside of it, like being a partner and a father?

Recent reports have been circulating about Tom leaving Scientology for good. The church is allegedly controlling how Tom deals with his now 9-year-old daughter, Suri, which keeps him from actually being there for his daughter, Hollywood Life reports.

After a heart wrenching phone call with Suri, the actor allegedly came to his senses that he is missing out on the most important milestones of her daughter's life and he is willing to make up for it by completely cutting his ties with the church.

"She was going on and on about her ballet class and how much she loves it. That's when Tom realized he's never seen her perform ballet and he started to tear up," an insider reveals. "It hit him that she's growing up before his eyes and he's not there to witness most of it. They talk on the phone and video chat, but it's not the same."

Tom is allegedly battling so much lately. "Tom has been under tremendous pressure where Suri and Katie are concerned because the church doesn't want him close to them. They can't stand that their own poster boy isn't raising his child in the church," the source said. "If they label Suri a suppressive person (a Scientology term for an enemy of the church), as they've been known to do with dissenters, that would make it hard for Tom to have a relationship with her. He's between a rock and a hard place, but he's finally making a choice to put his daughter first," the source continued.

"Tom has missed birthdays, school events, all the special parts of childhood that happen so fast and are gone before you know it. Suri is not a baby anymore; she is fully aware that her father isn't around much," said the insider. "When she speaks to him on the phone, it's becoming more and more like she's talking to a stranger." Awwww. That is so sad!

If Tom, who is now 52 years old, indeed turns his back completely from Scientology, there is no assurance if he could patch things up with his ex, Katie Holmes. But, he will surely have more time to spend with his daughter without the Scientology people nosing in on his every move.
