'Terminator Genisys' Review: Should You Watch the Movie in 3D?

July 1 marks the international release of Terminator Genisys. With the marketed visual effects, high endorsement from series co-creator James Cameron, and of course, the return of the original Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as a fan, are you going to watch the movie in 3D?

To help you decide, Cinema Blend released another instalment of its To 3D Or Not To 3D, wherein the site analyses the aspects to consider in watching a three-dimensional film.

"If a Terminator movie isn't a good fit for a proper 3D presentation, then I honestly don't know what is," the article says. "With explosions, bullets and robots all crossing the screen at some point in the film, 3D seems like one of those movies you end up wishing was in 3D, right before they make the announcement."

Cinema Blend also noted that the audience can anticipated a lot of 3D effects out the window. In addition to the expected objects and debris flying, other effects such as smoke, dust, and flames are also stunning treats to watch out for.

Overall, the movie garnered a score of 33/35 from the website. And here is their final verdict:

"Terminator Genisys is a hell of a 3D experience. For a franchise that's always thought of, but never gone the 3D route before, this is a momentous occasion. Better still, the film is perfectly suited for large screen presentations in formats like IMAX or any other Premium Large Format presentation. It is highly recommended that you spend the extra money to go the 3D and/or Large Format route with this one."

However, in terms of the total quality of the movie, The Guardian gave Terminator Genisys a score of two out of five stars.

The first part of the movie, according to The Guardian, was shot in line with James Cameron's original vision. When it came to the second half, "the lore is disconnected and rewired, making for a confusing, but sporadically entertaining ride for anyone who remembers the originals."

"The reality is that Terminator Genisys is part remake, part reboot, mostly failure," the article state.

It is now up to the box office to tell if the Terminator's comeback is a good move or not.
