Sony Celebrates PlayStation Plus 5th Birthday WIth A Limited Mystery Gift For Their Subscribers

Today marks the 5th birthday of Sony's PlayStation Plus. For those who have been living under the rock, PlayStation Plus, according to Cheapsheet, is a subscription service that allows members to access certain features for PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 including the online multiplayer for PS4, free games every month, game discounts, and online game save storage just to name a few.

To add, the membership also offered a total of $1,300 worth free games in 2014. The $1,300 free games are a big jump from the $50 standard year subscription.

IGN also reported about the anniversary and apparently Sony has been giving away freebies to their loyal members. The article said that the manufacturing giant will be giving away a limited edition gift to their members. However, Sony did not released any hints or clues as to what they mystery gift is.

This revolution was introduced by Sony and Microsoft where the games and consoles are a thing of the past. Before, you need to have a game and a console in order to play a game, but with this service, and an internet connection, all you need is just your console game.

At first there were doubts if the service was worth it but with the freebies and exclusivity of it, the yearly membership of both Sony and Microsoft service is all worth every penny.

This type of service is very popular for online multiplayer gamers. Again, for those who are living under the rock, this time a boulder, this feature allows a gamer to play a particular game with anyone without leaving their chair. Popular multiplayer game includes The Crew, Destiny, Call of Duty, The Last of Us and a lot more.

As for free games, Sony in 2014 have given Batman: Arkham Asylum, Dragon's Crown, Dead Space 3, and Metro: Last Light. However, these free games will also cease to exist if your subscription lapses.
