Blackberry Android Phone: ‘Venice’ Release Date & Specifications Leaked, Device to Compete With Samsung's S6 Edge

Rumor has it that Blackberry is poised to release its new flagship smartphone this year, which the company calls "Blackberry Venice." According to Techtimes, the new Blackberry handset will be powered by Android mobile operating system and will have a sort of "retro" touch due to its QWERTY keypad. The company says that Blackberry Venice will have a "slider" keypad, which is a physical keyboard that users can actually slide out.

Techtimes says that Blackberry Venice has a stylish dual-curved display similar to other smartphone rivals such as Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. This is in line with earlier speculations that Blackberry was partnering with Samsung for its rumored new smartphone with Android OS.

The Blackberry Venice was showcased last March during the 2015 Mobile World Congress and industry experts pointed out recently that Blackberry Venice shares the same "look" with that of Samsung Galaxy S6, specifically the "dual-curved display."

The report also claims that other features will be integrated to Blackberry Venice as the company is gearing up to release two versions of the handset. Blackberry Venice will reportedly be powered by Android while the other version of the device will run under the Blackberry 10 mobile operating system.

Intertnational Business Times says that Blackberry's flagship smartphone will sport a 5.4-inch by 1440 quad-HD display with dual-curved edges. The new flagship smartphone will have a 64-bit 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with a 3 GB of Random Access Memory (RAM). It will also sport an 18 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. Accordingly, Blackberry Venice will reportedly be released in November.
