Apple WWDC 2015: iOS 9 Release Date & Features: More iPhone Apps That Can't Be Deleted

Apple revealed its newest operating system, iOS 9, on Monday during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The new iOs 9 will be available for public beta in July and free upgrade for the fall for all devices supporting iOs 8 will be released, as reported by CBS. Also, Macworld mentioned that iOS 9 will be officially launched in September, alongside the next generation of iPhone.

According to Mashable, along with the new features of iOS 9 are additional apps that can't be deleted such as Find My iPhone and Find My Friends.

Find My iPhone can reportedly be useful if a user's iPhone is stolen. It can track a missing device and provide a kill switch, which renders the phone unusable. On the other hand, Find My Friends can simply help a user track the location of his or her friends.

According to the writer Raymond Wong, while Find My Phone is useful, he hopes that Apple will reconsider the two applications that cannot be deleted. Instead of having them pre-installed, Wong said that it's better if the users are left to decide if they want to install the applications or not.

Meanwhile, here are other notable features of iOS 9, according to Macworld:

Design: iOS 9 is reportedly the same with iOS 8 except for some minor differences and behavior of interface. New typeface, new shift key and other keyboard changes are some of the noted differences.

Siri: A proactive Siri will reportedly come with iOS 9. This personal assistant will learn users' habits, anticipate their needs and respond to queries. It can also offer quick links to apps or contacts. If a user calls someone regularly, Siri will reportedly provide the contact on the screen search. In the same way, if a user has an unidentfied caller, Proactive will look for the number in the user's email and offer hints.

Proactive also offers a Now Playing shortcut to music. Just by wearing the headphones, the iOS will know that the user wants to listen to music. Also, the calendar will remind a user when to leave based on local traffic conditions.

News: Designed like a little Flipboard, this feature allows users to select their own primary resource of news. Apple reportedly described it as "beautiful content from the world's greatest sources, personalised for you."

Multitasking: This feature is only available for iPads, and one that users have reportedly been asking for years. With iOS 9, users can now multitask and view two apps at once just by swiping on the screen. However, the feature is only meant to view apps at the same time, but a user cannot interact with both apps at once.

iOS 9 is compatible with iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPod touch (fifth generation).
