NBA Update: Cavs Sweep Hawks in Eastern Conference Finals

"Heee's baaaaacckkk!!!"

Not only is LeBron James back home, he is also back in the NBA Finals. James led his Cleveland Cavaliers to its second NBA Finals in franchise history since 2007. He, together with a hobbled Kyrie Irving, swept the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals. James did it masterfully, scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists for a 118 to 88 massacre of the depleted Atlanta Hawks, who played injured DeMarre Caroll and Kyle Korver.

According to a play by play report from peachtreehoops.com, LeBron orchestrated the Cleveland offense, racing to a 12 to 4 lead in the opening minutes of the first quarter. At the end of the first canto, the Cavs led by 12 points. In the second quarter, things got from bad to worse for the Hawks, as the lead grew to 15 points and eventually reached 20. At halftime, the Hawks were down with only 17 points and were looking beaten even before the game ended.

The third canto saw the lead balloon to 25 points, and in the final quarter, the Cavs led as much as 30 points, with the scoreboard at 118-88, until the buzzer sounded, putting an end to the magical season of the Atlanta Hawks.

According to a report from sbnation.com, this is the fifth straight year the King has been in the NBA Finals. This was a feat last done back in 1966, and that player is Bill Russell with the mighty Boston Celtics, together with Satch Sanders, KC Jones and Sam Jones.

With the Cavaliers' big win and return to the NBA finals, the team looks set to make history again, which was what LeBron James promised to his state when he returned home in July last year.
