Warriors vs Rockets Game 2: Golden State Takes Game 2 in a 1-Point Win, Leads Western Finals 2-0

The NBA Western Conference Finals Game 2 was a nail-biter as the Warriors came out on top with a 99-98 win over the Houston Warriors.

Superstar James Harden was on point for most of the game and early on, it seemed to be in the bag for the Rockets as league MVP runner up tallied 38 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists to go along with three steals, noted ESPN. With an opportunity for the Rockets to take the game, Harden had the ball with time running down but fumbled in the final seconds of the game.

Bleacher Report noted that while Golden State is known for its scrappy defense, Harden's attempt to close the game was thwarted by none other than the baller himself.

Proving that he is worthy of the title, NBA MVP Stephen Curry led his team with 33 points and six assists. His timely three pointers, five of eleven from downtown, had kept the game close but his late game swipe on Harden sealed the W for the Warriors.

ESPN acknowledged the offensive support Curry received from his teammates, namely, center Andrew Bogut with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Draymond Green, their defensive master, put in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists while fellow Splash brother Klay Thompson had a poor showing with 6 for 15 shots and 1 from 7 from the three point area.

For the Rockets, despite playing with an ailing knee, center Dwight Howard put in 19 points and 17 rebounds. Terrence Jones had 12 points while Josh Smith had 10 points.

In an interview with ESPN, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, "We like to get out and run and create some chaos, but so do they. And so against some teams, it's a great formula to walk that line. Against Houston, you've got to be a little more careful."

The Warriors enter Game 3 with a big 2-0 advantage. The next game will take place on Sunday, May 24, 9:00 am at the Toyota Center in Houston.
